City hosts Energy, Water and Waste Forum

On the 19th of October 2017 the City of Cape Town (CoCT) hosted an energy, water and waste forum. The forum was aimed at sharing practical knowledge and support for taking action amidst the water scarcity climate and other environmental issues. The audience included directors and managers of commercial and industrial companies, water and energy efficiency-related service providers, policy-makers and others. The forum showcased case studies, expert views, panel discussions and the CoCT’s updates on financing options, innovation, policy and training and advisory opportunities mostly focused on getting through the water crisis.

Amongst the keynote speakers was the Mayor of the CoCT, Patricia de Lille, who praised Capetonians for rising up to the challenge when it came to saving water and being innovative when finding solutions to become water resilient. The CoCT and the Western Cape Government (WCG) presented the status of the drought situation and the planned next steps to mitigate the crisis.

, Growth Point properties, The Vineyard Hotel, SAB and Netcare showcased their water journey successes. GreenCape
 also presented on the best practice principles for water management and urged businesses to consider the full spectrum of water efficiency interventions as opposed to just water supply augmentation. Other presentations included an update from the Green Building Council of SA
and an energy update from Sarah Ward.
