Current Position: Head of the Policy & Futures Unit at the World Wide Fund for Nature, South Africa.

Previous Positions: Senior lecturer at the Department of Public Administration and Planning and associate Director for the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy at the University of Stellenbosch. Director of the World Conservation Union South Africa (IUCN-SA). Manager for the Natural Resources and Management Unit at the Land and Agriculture Policy Center.

Services and boards: Inspired Evolution One – a private equity fund for clean technology.

Qualifications: B.Sc. Honours (Molecular Biology) (WITS), M.Sc. (Environmental Science) (Wye College London), Senior Executive Management course at Harvard University.

Johannes Lodewikus Van Niekerk



Current Position: Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Director of the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies at Stellenbosch University.

Previous Positions: Sasol Chair in Vehicle Engineering at the University of Pretoria. Head of the Mechanics Division, Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Institute for Thermodynamics and Mechanics at Stellenbosch University.
