2014 Sees Financial Benefits From Renewable Energy Exceed Costs in South Africa
Jan 26, 2015
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has recently published work indicating that the first REIPPPP projects have saved the South African economy some R800 million. The CSIR's Dr Tobias Bischof-Niemz has run the numbers of electricity generated by the projects from round one, connected to and supplying into the grid, and has calculated the value they have added to the economy by way of 'fuel switching; mitigating against unserved energy and replacing coal. See the full article and the results of the study by following this link. The presentation is also available on the CSIR website.
