The South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre (SARETEC) is the first national renewable energy technology training centre in South Africa and has been established with support from the German Government and other partners. 

As part of the South African German Energy Programme, Germany hosted a study tour for managers and associates of SARETEC in early September.

The delegation visited equipment manufacturers GE Wind Energy, Enercon, Nordex/Acciona, Vestas and Siemens as well as the training facilities of bfw Company for Training (Unternehmen für Bildung, bfw), an institution for advanced job training, and the Training Center for Renewable Energy (Bildungszentrum für erneuerbare Energien, BZEE).  Further information on the study tour is available on the German Missions in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland website
