COVID-19 MEASURES AT GREENCAPE

In effect from 18 March 2020 – end of lockdown 2020 (until further directive received)

Dear stakeholders,

As stated on the COVID-19 Coronavirus South African Resource Portal: On 31 December 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported a cluster of pneumonia cases in Wuhan City, China. ‘Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2’ (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed as the causative agent of what we now know as ‘Coronavirus Disease 2019’ (COVID-19). Since then, the virus has spread to more than 100 countries, including South Africa. The World Health Organisation has declared the coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic.

On Sunday 15 March 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of disaster in terms of the Disaster Management Act. Please read the full statement here. This will enable the government to have an integrated and coordinated disaster management mechanism that will focus on preventing and reducing the outbreak of this virus. President Ramaphosa highlighted that the current circumstances require extraordinary measures to curb the spread of infections. Subsequently, a 21-day lockdown was announced, from 26 March. South Africa is currently moving between lockdown levels.

We are committed to keep supporting businesses and investors in the green economy to remove barriers to establishment and growth, and to also support local, provincial and national government to build a resilient green economy. This can to a large degree also be done online.

After consulting with our funders and other stakeholders, and in the light of the measures that have been put in place by national government, we are demonstrating our commitment to protect our people and our partners, whilst continuing in our purpose, by implementing the following measures:
